Grilled Garlic Butter Isopod

Ingredients:

  • Freshly caught and cleaned isopod (ensure it's safe for consumption)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions:

Prepare the Isopod:

  • Thoroughly wash and clean your Isopod with hot water just as you would with any seafood in a strainer.
  • Thoroughly clean the isopod, removing any dirt or debris.

Isopod

Marinate:

  1. In a bowl, mix the minced garlic, melted butter, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper.
  2. Gently coat the isopod in the marinade, ensuring it is well covered.
  3. Let it marinate for about 15-30 minutes.

Grilling:

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Place the marinated isopod on the grill, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  3. Grill for approximately 5-7 minutes or until the isopod is cooked through.
  4. Carefully remove the grilled isopod from the grill.
  • Remove the exoskeleton carefully, leaving the edible parts intact.
  • Using a sharp blade cut down the middle of the isopod to reveal the meat . (Just like crawfish)
  • Once shell is separated properly, revealing meat, you can take metal spoon or scoup and remove all the meat from the shell.
  • Discard Remains
  • Serve:

    1. Place it on a serving plate and garnish with additional chopped parsley.
    2. Serve with lemon wedges on the side.
